Katya (she/they)

Katya has been obsessed with Dostoevsky since she read the words “I am a sick man… I am a spiteful man.” They earned their PhD in Comparative Literature with a research focus on Russian, French, and German 18th and 19th century literature and philosophy. She started “Dostoevsky or Doesn’t She?” to share fun content about the man & his work. When the pandemic began, they & Arkady started a Book Club & Discord server dedicated to enjoying the works of Dostoevsky. You can find them on Twitter @forshirls.

Arkady (they/them)

Arkady is a Psychology PhD student by day, Dostoevsky enthusiast by night. Their first foray into Russian literature was Crime and Punishment, senior year of high school, and they have been chasing that high ever since. In an incredible stroke of luck, they stumbled into the first meeting of what would later become the Dostoevsky Book Club at the beginning of the pandemic, led by Katya, and quickly seized on creating the Discord server as well as writing discussion questions.
